Let’s talk about mood boards. Today I’m teaching you how to make your very own for your wedding.
When you are planning a wedding it is very important to do a mood board first they are really useful for wedding planning in lots of ways. They help out to visualize and to bring together every detail, sometimes communicating your ideas to suppliers is difficult so this way you can truly show instantly what you want.
STEP 1: VISUAL INSPIRATION GATHERING
Creating this style of mood board involves going through printed material such as:
- Magazines
- Brochures
- Catalogues
- Postcards
- Second-hand books
- Your sketches
Look in unexpected places, wallpaper samples, fabric scraps, anything that inspires you. Different textures really help a mood board communicate atmosphere.
STEP 2: EDIT
Now’s the time to go back over your material inspiration and be selective.
You can do it any size I would recommend an A3 size or bigger so you have enough space for creating.
Notice if any themes are popping up again and again. This is a great way to choose a theme for your wedding!
STEP 3: ARRANGE
Start with your favorites images and put them out on the paper, don’t stick anything down yet!
Then pick out your color pieces like paint chips and swatches and arrange them on the board.
Add some texture with fabrics, ribbons and even dried flowers or foliage if they complement your theme.
Once everything is arranged you can go back and stick everything down.
We hope it has given you the direction you need to feel confident and have fun in creating your own Mood Board. We can’t wait to see what you create.
