Do I go?
Well, of course it’s always a choice financially, vacation time, babysitters, house sitters, pet sitters. However if that wedding was down the road from you would you go? If your answer is yes think about it this way.
A typical gift for a wedding with two people attending is $500-600, plus a new dress, a hairdo, maybe a new suit, some shoes etc. The costs add up to go to a local wedding that many people even say no to. If your answer to the above question was Yes! Why not take advantage of a opportunity to not only attend a wedding but spend a week with family and friends, somewhere other than in a church and a hall.
Many people have vacation time they never use, many also tend to stay close to home rather than travel. This is your moment to take a beautiful event and a very happy day for your family or friend who’s asked you to come with them. That’s a privilege and you should accept.
There aren’t many times where you will be able to travel somewhere with many of your close friends and family and this is your chance. Add a few bucks to the wedding gift budget and get on that plane. Spend a week somewhere glorious and watch as your bride and groom say their vows in front of you and other family and friends.
If you don’t go, chances are you’ll wish you did, so my advise would be to book your ticket, go and share their day and enjoy a vacation of your own.
At a minimum, you will have a wonderful time, enjoy being with friends and family, and watch a very special couple tie the knot, somewhere tropical. How often would you get the opportunity!
